What is the Chattanooga Bar Association?

 

The Chattanooga Bar Association is a non-profit organization for our community and the legal community that has been an active organization for over 125 years, founded in 1897.


The Chattanooga Bar Association is an association made up of over 800 attorneys and judges based in and around the Chattanooga area that is funded by yearly dues and by providing the legal community with annual educational seminars.


Through the help of our legal community, the Chattanooga Bar Association offers annual meetings, retirement and investiture celebrations for judges, the Hamilton County Herald, annual golf tournaments and more. 

 

What does the Chattanooga Bar Association do for the community?


Lawyer Referral Service – a public service offering lawyer referrals to the public in an effort to help people find an attorney to assist them with their legal needs. 

 

Fee Dispute Arbitration – When a client or attorney disputes legal fees The Chattanooga Bar Association offers the Fee Dispute Arbitration to allow clients and attorneys an opportunity to dispute their claim before a panel and come to a binding resolution.

 

Lawsuits – The Chattanooga Bar Association has partnered with the Hamilton County Department of Education to provide donated business and formal attire for local high school students to utilize through their future endeavors. 

 

High School Mock Trials – During Mock Trial competitions, attorneys and judges donate their time and knowledge to help educate students about the law.       

 

"Wills For Veterans" – The CBA hosts attorneys donating time to provide wills for veterans on Veterans Day free of charge.

 

Eviction Mediation Program – Hamilton County General Sessions Court and The Chattanooga Bar Association have joined the Eviction Diversion Initiative offering landlords and tenants an opportunity to divert cases from the court dockets and establish a local housing mediation program providing an alternative dispute resolution pathway for pro se landlords and tenants outside of the courtroom. 

 

“When You Become 18” – With the help and knowledge of local attorneys, the Chattanooga Bar Association provides the “When You Become 18” booklet for all high school seniors that provides needed information to young adults during their transition into adulthood. 

 

Chattanooga Legal Placement Service – The Chattanooga Bar Association keeps and posts resumes for office management, legal secretaries, paralegals and attorneys on their webpage and in their weekly newsletter for employment opportunities.
