2026 Law Day Celebration

 “The Rule of Law and the American Dream”.

The luncheon was held at St John’s Restaurant - thank you to Josh Carter and staff for making it special. 


The selection committee asked that Linda Moss Mines, (the 1999 Liberty Bell Award Recipient) present the 2026 Liberty Bell Award to Bill Norton, who is the immediate past Chairman of the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council, Parade Chairman of the historic Chattanooga-Hamilton County Armed Forces Day Parade, an active leader at multiple levels of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter # 203 and the American Legion, community volunteer, philanthropist and so much more.

Our keynote speaker, Jean Becker, President George H. W. Bush’s Chief of Staff from 1994 until his death in 2018, was absolutely captivating. She held the attention of all the judges and attorneys and it was mesmerizing! As several said, “ I could have listened to her memorable stories all day long!

At our luncheon, we present an outstanding citizen in the Chattanooga area with its Liberty Bell Award. 


The award is presented to a non-lawyer who strengthens the American system of freedom under the law, specifically recognizing service that promotes a deeper understanding of the Constitution, encourages respect for the rule of law and fosters community responsibility and leadership.

CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER

TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 2026

CBA Community Volunteer Day at Children's Advocacy Center

Chattanooga Bar Association members touring today are: Carrie Stefaniak, Lee Ann Adams, Hannah Murrell, Keith Grant, Ursula Carter, Lynda Hood, Laura Ketcham, Samantha Lunn, Mumford Yates, CAC Executive Director Kristen McCallie, RaDonna Gaddis, Judge Rob Philyaw, Mary Frances Devoe and Barry Gold.


Thank you to our CBA members who joined us this morning in support of the Children’s Advocacy Center. We appreciate your generosity in donating stuffed animals and snacks, as well as your engagement during the facility tour.


The Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC)provides a safe, child-friendly environment for children who have experienced severe abuse. Through a multidisciplinary, trauma-informed approach, children receive coordinated care and support in a single location.


Volunteer Activity: Participants toured the facility and helped launch a stuffed animal and snack drive, providing comfort items for children following forensic interviews and ongoing services.

Each year, at the CBA Annual Memorial Service, we gather for this purpose—to remember colleagues who were more than just attorneys. They were mentors, advocates, counselors, and friends. They were individuals who dedicated themselves to the service of others and to the pursuit of justice, often in ways that go unseen and unrecognized.


We honor not only their contributions to the law, but the lives they lived and the love they gave beyond it.


As their Memorial resolutions were read, we were reminded of the time we had with them, for the example they set, and for the legacy they left behind.


May the Memorial Service serve as a reminder to all of the responsibility we all carry to uphold the standards they honored so well.
