Fee Dispute Arbitrator Sign-Up

We are seeking attorney volunteers to serve as panel members for our Attorney Fee Dispute Arbitration Program.

The CBA Fee Dispute Arbitration Committee provides an important service by helping attorneys and clients resolve disputed legal fees through a fair, impartial, and efficient arbitration process. Each case is heard by a three-member panel, and the thoughtful participation of volunteer attorneys is essential to maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the program.

Serving as a panel member offers an opportunity to:

  • Give back to the legal community through public service.
  • Help promote confidence in the attorney-client relationship.
  • Apply your professional judgment and experience in resolving fee disputes.
  • Support a process that is less costly and more efficient than litigation.
  • Promote professionalism and public confidence in the legal profession.
  • Collaborate with respected colleagues and contribute to the Bar's mission.

Volunteer panelists receive case materials in advance and participate in a hearing where both the client and attorney have an opportunity to present their positions. Hearings are scheduled with consideration for all parties availability.

To help minimize the time commitment, we make every effort to ask attorneys to serve on no more than one arbitration panel per year.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer arbitrator or would like more information about the Fee Dispute Committee and what the role entails, please contact us. Your willingness to serve makes a meaningful difference in ensuring that fee disputes are resolved fairly and professionally.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our legal community.
