with Jean Becker, chief of staff to Former President George H.W. Bush and author of The Man I Knew: The Amazing Story of George H. W. Bush's Post-Presidency
Jean Becker has been chief of staff to former President George H. W. Bush since 1994, supervising his office in both Houston and Kennebunkport, Maine, and overseeing the opening of the George Bush Presidential Library Center in 1997. She took a leave of absence in 1999 to edit and research “All the Best, George Bush: My Life in Letters and Other Writings.” Previously, Jean served as deputy press secretary to first lady Barbara Bush from 1989 to 1992 and helped Mrs. Bush with the editing and research for her books “Barbara Bush, A Memoir” and “Reflections.” A former journalist, she is also a member of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the C-Change Cancer Board, and an ad hoc member of the advisory boards of The George Bush Presidential Library and The George Bush School of Government and Public Service.

Volunteers in Medicine is a full-service medical clinic providing primary and preventive healthcare to financially eligible, uninsured individuals in Hamilton County and surrounding areas.
Volunteer Activity: Facility tour.

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope by partnering with low-income families to create affordable housing.

August 2026 - Volunteer Days: Partnership for Families, Children & Adults
Empowering People Since 1877
Partnership for Families, Children & Adults is one of the oldest and most trusted human service organizations in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia. Since 1877, the organization has responded to the evolving needs of the community by providing protection, healing, and stability to individuals and families in crisis.
Its continuum of care includes domestic violence services, sexual assault crisis response, family and individual counseling, elder support services, victim advocacy, and specialized programs for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. By addressing immediate safety needs while also supporting long-term stability and self-sufficiency, Partnership for Families, Children & Adults works to break cycles of trauma and build stronger, safer communities.

The Food Bank’s mission is to eliminate hunger by feeding, nourishing, and empowering those in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia.
Volunteer Activity: Assemble food boxes for families in need.

October 2026 - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga operates on the belief that every child has the potential to succeed when supported by a strong, positive relationship with a caring adult. For nearly seven decades, the organization has created and sustained professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6–14.
Through consistent mentorship, guidance, and encouragement, Big Brothers Big Sisters helps young people build confidence, improve academic outcomes, make healthier choices, and develop the skills needed to reach their full potential. These relationships create lasting impacts not only for the children served, but also for families and the broader community.

The CHATT Foundation is dedicated to meeting the most basic needs of hungry, homeless, and vulnerable individuals in the Chattanooga community while providing a clear, supportive path toward long-term self-sufficiency.
By walking alongside individuals throughout their journey—from crisis intervention to housing stability, employment readiness, and personal development—the Foundation addresses homelessness with dignity, accountability, and compassion. Its vision is to lead the community in resolving homelessness through comprehensive support, collaboration, and sustained engagement.

December 2026 - Volunteer Days: Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga

Since 1989, the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga has provided critical assistance to individuals and families affected by kidney disease. Recognizing the significant emotional and financial toll kidney disease can place on patients and caregivers, the Foundation offers direct financial aid, education, and supportive services to help families navigate treatment and recovery.
As an independent nonprofit, the Foundation ensures that 100% of funds raised remain in the Chattanooga area, allowing resources to directly support local patients. Its mission is rooted in compassion, community, and a commitment to improving quality of life for those living with kidney disease.
