Excerpt from website: The Rock Church
"Ed Johnson also worked as a laborer at this church, Thankful Memorial Episcopal Church. He had been unable to work there in the days leading up to the attack due to cold weather. Will Hixson went to the stone yard by the church and asked the foreman for Johnson's name. Armed with a name and a description, Hixson turned in Johnson's information to Sheriff Shipp and collected the $375 reward. (worth over $10,000 today)."

Professional Wrestling and the Law: All I Really Need to Know About Third-Party Litigation Funding I Learned from Watching Hulk Hogan (1 Hour)
Third-party litigation funding is on the rise. In 2023, companies that finance U.S. lawsuits in exchange for a cut of recovery are estimated to have committed between $2.5 billion and $5 billion to new transactions. Several states have recently adopted new legislation to deal with the rise in such third-party litigation funding, and numerous state bar associations have published ethics opinions on the subject. But much of what lawyers need to know about the subject can be learned from an investigation into wrestler Hulk Hogan’s invasion of privacy suit against media conglomerate Gawker, which was funded by Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel. This CLE presentation will explore the legal ethics issues regarding third-party litigation funding through the lens of the Hogan/Gawker litigation, which ultimately led to Gawker filing for bankruptcy.
